This washed coffee from Ethiopia is of the Heirloom varietal and is grown by a collection of small-hold farmers high up in the Yirgacheffe region.

This is classic washed Ethiopian, delicate in body but sweet and delicious. It’s got a honey-like quality when it’s warm with notes of dried apricot, butter biscuits and pink florals. Think of a delicate hibiscus tea and you’ve got it. This Yirgacheffe is tea-like in texture that just flows over your palate like a gentle comforting hug.

This washed Ethiopian hails from the Kochere region not far from the town of Yirgacheffe. It is farmed by smallholder famers with farms of 2ha or less in size. It is grown by small hold famers who grow coffee trees in and amongst their subsistence crops. This method of farming produces what is known as garden coffees.
